In-Game Character Information
Name: Delita Heiral
Series: Final Fantasy Tactics
Age: 16
House: Ravenclaw
Quiddich Position: Chaser

Personality: Delita is a wild card, if you wish to call him that. On one hand, he is cold, calculating, cruel, and can use people as he wishes to attain his goals. He can be cutting, and due to his own innate ability to read people and understand situations, he knows just what to say to a person to make them cry. He will do what he must to get things done, even if he hates it, but won't hesitate to cut corners if he can do so, and if it is for his benefit. If necessary, he would spill the blood of his own best friend to attain that which he holds most dear (or so he says—it's dubious if he truly would do that or not).

But that's just one side.

On the other, he has a virtuous side, who only wishes to help those he loves. He wishes for the good of others, and truly, even when he manipulates and is cold, he does it for a common good. What is the pain of one, when it saves thousands? Even if a few were sacrificed, and his hands covered in their blood, he would do it if it meant a better world—not only for his friends (when it is that he gets them, which, with HIS personality, is unlikely...unless they're saints or something), but his sister, who he holds especially dear. But in the face of his ambitious personality, and his own underhanded goals, sometimes this can be overlooked, and one will have to dig deep to see the kind heart hidden under the huge cruelties that he (sometimes) performs on the surface.

He is, in truth, a very quiet, articulate person, but won't walk up and start conversations with people. He tends to keep to himself, but will not mind putting his own two cents if someone asks. He's knowledgeable about many things, and doesn't mind digging up information...not only if it suits him, but also because he just takes joy in knowing things. It's always best to be one step ahead. That, and he's very polite, even when he's saying the cruelest things to another person, always staying within the lines, so to speak. His anger is quite deep down, simmering...but if he does not have a reason to let it out, he will not allow it, rather keeping a polite, respectful facade in front of his fellow students.

He also has a bit of an inferiority complex, partially due to being a muggle-born being raised in a wizarding home after his 12th year (and is quite conscious of this). It's as if he's trying to prove something...not just to himself, but to others, that he can be just as skilled as a full-born, if not better. This, among other things, fuels what could easily be known as bloody-minded, dogged determination. What he wants to do, he gets done...and that's all there is to it. If you cross him in one of his goals, he will have to pull you out of the way.

...That is, unless you can drag him out of that mindset. But truly, good luck with that.

When close to others (which is very hard to do), he is very protective, but only quietly (and cruelly) so. He will never tell someone that he beat up that poor boy that stole their lunch money, or stuck a squeaky voice potion in the drink of that girl who teased them. It's truly hard to say when he's close to one and when he isn't, but the others will know when they've crossed someone Delita holds dear. And um. It won't be pretty.

In Nerd terms, consider him ah...the true meaning of “Chaotic Good”.

Background:

Note: In his actual canon, Delita's sister dies. But in case someone wants to app her at some point, I kept the storyline with her intact, just left her alive in the end. I hope that's okay D:

Delita and his younger sister were both born to a family of rather not-well-off Muggles near London. They were oblivious perhaps, to the world of magic that flew around them, but they were content and happy with their parents. They did normal muggle things, like play video games (Delita was especially fond of this as a young boy, as were most young boys), play outside, read books of daring and adventure, and play make-believe. Delita was always a bright young man, and showed plenty of promise in the world of academics. He enjoyed reading, and showed rare insight for a boy his age—something his parents were very proud of.

When he was eleven years of age, Delita received his letter to go to Hogwarts. He had never known of magic outside his stories, and yet he had the talent and the mettle to become a wizard! So off he went, rushing to the train station and to the school. And, on the train, he found that he absolutely hated Bertie Botts' Every Flavour Beans (but that might be because the first one he picked out was of a horrible flavour; but nevertheless he swore for as long as he lived he'd never touch one of those things again...the lemon drops were quite tasty, however). Upon going to the school, he found himself enthralled by the possibilities for learning magic, and found himself dizzied by all the prospects of what he, a little poor boy who people had thought wouldn't amount to anything because of his social status, could attain. He quickly pored into his studies, finding himself specially interested in the subjects of Ancient Runes, Defense against the Dark Arts, Care of Magical Creatures, and History of Magic. Unfortunately, though, Delita got teased at school by some for not only his low monetary status, but his muggle-born status as well, which bore the seeds for a future inferiority complex that would certainly carry his ambitions later on.

He went home, and then soon after, his younger sister received her letter to go to the school, as well. But it was around this time when tragedy struck. Both their parents had died of illness, leaving the two of them orphans. A rather wealthy, magical family had been kind enough to take them in, but to the two siblings, it felt wrong. It wasn't their home, and it took a good bit of time to adjust, though they did grow close to the children who lived with them, seeing them as secondary siblings after a time.

Delita started to feel underconfident based on this, and he started to realize the difference between he and full bloods rather quickly. The ones he lived with were kind, but there were those who were not. He still kept his wits about him, though, as well as himself, and continued his studies with increased vigor, and an increased ambition that could only go further as time went on. He wanted to prove that he was better than them, and to prove that blood or status didn't mean everything. He was proud of his heritage, damn it, and there was no way a bunch of snot-nosed pureblood brats would toy with him for their own amusement or treat him like a second-class citizen. His animosity grew, but with his sister there, he didn't explode. He still managed to keep it in check, his mind focused...

And...

Then his fifth year came. It was in one of his classes that he had learned that his sister had been badly hurt, near-death, due to a reason that nobody would tell him. All he knew was that it was bad enough for her to be sent home, and she did not contact him about it for some time. She did not say anything to him, but he knew that it had to have something to do with the girls who were tormenting her in her classes for the same reason the boys tormented him in his.

And after that, something changed within him.

His determination to become better changed somewhat. Yes, he wanted to become better. Good enough for Headmaster, even—but it wasn't for his own selfish reasons like it was before. He wanted to get up there so as to prevent anything like this from happening again. Yes, it was childish stuff. Some kids tormenting a muggle-born, but truly, he wanted to rip apart the ranks between Half-blood, muggle-blood, and pure-blood, to where all would be equal, and there would be no animosity like there is now. He could truly change the Magical world for the better, to help those who were innocent like his sister. Good intentions were behind his actions, though one probably couldn't tell with all the manipulation that he wasn't averse to doing now.

He had a goal, and he would go do it. It didn't help that he didn't have much of a social life to begin with, so very few could truly try to talk him out of it.

So this was the start of Delita Heiral's fall from grace, though all is not lost for him. There is a chance for him to realize the road he's walking on (The Road to Hell is Paved in Good Intentions) will only lead to his self-destruction if he is not careful...

But would anyone be willing to try to save him, if they could?
